Roles and Permissions

If you are visiting this place, then you may have notice that some users have different roles or staff titles. These roles are used to help manage the wiki and keep the website organized for everyone. Each role gives users different permissions depending on what they are responsible for on the website.

The role system is important because it helps the wiki run smoothly and safely. Not every user needs access to advanced tools or management features. Because of this, permissions are separated into different roles. Higher-level roles, such as Founder, Co-Founder, and Super Administrator, can access important website controls and management tools. These users help maintain the wiki, solve technical problems, and make major decisions for the website. Other roles, such as Admin and Author, focus more on editing pages, improving articles, and helping keep information accurate and updated.

If you are a regular visitor who is not logged in then, you will most likely use the Guest role by default. Guest users can still read articles, browse pages, comments and read the wiki normally, but they have limited permissions compared to staff members and logged in users. This system helps protect the wiki from spam, misuse, or accidental changes.

The sections below explain what each role can do and what they cannot do on the Racecode Wiki.

Roles

Roles are special ranks on the RaceCode Wiki. Each role has different permissions and responsibilities. Some roles can manage the entire wiki, while others can only create or edit content.

Founder

Founder is the highest role on the wiki. This role controls the entire website and all major decisions.

What Founder can do:

  • Manage all users and roles
  • Create or remove pages
  • Edit all wiki content
  • Change website settings
  • Add or remove plugins
  • Manage comments and discussions
  • Access all administrator tools
  • Promote or demote users
  • Manage security and backups

What Founder cannot do:

  • Founder permissions cannot be restricted by lower roles

Co-Founder

Co-Founder is a high-level management role that helps run the wiki together with the Founder.

What Co-Founder can do:

  • Manage most parts of the wiki
  • Edit and delete pages
  • Moderate comments and users
  • Help manage staff members
  • Access administrator tools
  • Create announcements and updates
  • Help maintain wiki rules

What Co-Founder cannot do:

  • Remove the Founder
  • Change ownership of the wiki
  • Access some protected founder-only controls

SA (Super Administrator)

Super Administrator is a powerful staff role with access to advanced management tools.

What SA can do:

  • Manage pages and categories
  • Edit all articles
  • Moderate users and comments
  • Handle reports and rule violations
  • Manage website settings
  • Help maintain security
  • Promote lower-level staff

What SA cannot do:

  • Remove Founder or Co-Founder permissions
  • Transfer ownership of the wiki
  • Access some founder-only controls

Admin

Admin is a staff role that helps manage the wiki and keep content organized.

What Admin can do:

  • Edit and delete pages
  • Moderate comments
  • Warn or block users if needed
  • Fix formatting and grammar issues
  • Review new articles
  • Help maintain wiki rules

What Admin cannot do:

  • Access founder-only settings
  • Change major website configurations
  • Remove higher-ranked staff members
  • Transfer ownership of the wiki

Author

Author is a content creation role. This role mainly focuses on writing and editing articles.

What Author can do:

  • Create new articles
  • Edit their own articles
  • Upload allowed images
  • Update article information
  • Participate in discussions

What Author cannot do:

  • Delete other users’ articles
  • Manage user roles
  • Access administrator settings
  • Moderate staff members
  • Change website configurations

Guest

Guest is the basic role for visitors or users without staff permissions.

What Guest can do:

  • Read wiki articles
  • View public pages
  • Use search features
  • Participate in allowed discussions

What Guest cannot do:

  • Create articles
  • Edit pages
  • Upload files
  • Access staff tools
  • Manage users or comments
