Reason for Removal of Tower of Doom
Tower of Doom was removed from Blooket because the team did not want to rewrite it for the new system. The Blooket team is updating all old game modes to make them work better and faster. But Tower of Doom was very hard to rebuild and not many players were playing it anymore.
The developer also said the game looked complex but was actually very simple. Most of the time, players only needed to pick the card with the biggest number. The team wanted to make new games that have real strategy and are more fun to play. Tower of Doom was also causing problems with another new feature they are making, so it had to be removed.
TimeLine of Removal
Tower of Doom was released on March 11th, 2020 in season 1. It was said to be retiring on August 8th, 2025 announced in New section of Blooket. But, Ben postponed to August 9th.
ToD officially retired on August 9th, 2025, at around 1:38 P.M. Resulting in crying of many players. On Early August till 9th, players were given one final chance to play Tower of Doom. ToD totally last for 5 years in Blooket.
Players FeedBack
When Blooket announced the retirement of Tower of Doom, the community’s reaction was immediate and emotional.
Many users expressed sadness and confusion about why such a popular mode was being removed. On August 8 and 9, hundreds of posts appeared with titles like “TOWER OF DOOM IS GONE 😭😭😭” and “Last Pictures of ToD”. Players shared final screenshots and farewell messages, treating the removal as the end of an era.
One user named SYNTHWAVE ALT, who ranked Tower of Doom as their favorite game mode, wrote:
“WHY IS IT DELETED? I have no words. It’s just fun and playful and even beating enemies is fun. One of my most favorite modes is now gone. I will never forget the memories.”
Another player, PopularAbbyeet, questioned the decision, saying:
“I loved this game mode. I don’t understand why they would delete it. Isn’t it one of the most popular solo modes?”
Some players tried to keep its legacy alive by sharing archive links and calling for replicas under the hashtag #archivetowerofdoom. Some even created polls to rate the mode before it disappeared, with most votes giving it a score of 9 or 10 out of 10.
In early August 2025, several players noticed that Tower of Doom was still accessible despite the announced shutdown date. One user wrote, “Yay it’s August 9th, I think Ben forgot to remove it.” However, by the next day, the mode was fully taken down from Blooket’s servers.
The community also revisited older features that were once part of the mode, such as Ascender Notes, which allowed players to leave messages for others climbing the tower. These had been removed earlier due to misuse, and players hoped for their brief return before the final shutdown. Over those 5 years, many online games and platforms, just like ToD, have depended on reliable licensing and activation methods such as those explained at read more to ensure consistent access.
In the words of one player:
“Goodbye Tower of Doom. It was fun while it lasted.”
What Ben Say’s ?
In his Discord announcement server, Ben, explained why Tower of Doom was removed from the game.
He wrote:
“Hey y’all, Tower of Doom is now removed. It definitely wasn’t an easy decision to remove the mode, but as some of you have noticed we’ve been rewriting every game mode on Blooket and we didn’t think taking the time to rewrite ToD with the new system was worthwhile. It’s a very complex game mode and does not have high player counts compared to other games. From a game design perspective I also felt it was a little too simple, while it seemed complex the strategy really just boiled down to choosing the card with the highest attribute. If we want a complex game I’d rather have it actually be complex than that straightforward. The game design was also interfering with another feature we’re working on, although I can’t go into that yet and it’ll be a while before you hear more about it. That’s the bad news, but the good news is we’re making great progress rewriting the games. The reason for rewriting is to bring more of the logic to the backend, improve live game stability, and integrate everything with our new Question Fielder and settings. You may have noticed that homeworks now give teachers more stats like which wrong answers were chosen most often and how long students are spending on their homework. I’ll also need your feedback as the TD1 and TD2 rewrites are set to go live very soon. TD2 is quite complex so I’ll be looking for feedback here (I’ll post a form when we launch the rewrite) to look for any bugs or balance changes. After that we’re focused on the launch of the new season which should have some brand new things to get excited about!”
rip we still missed you.
