Table of Contents
Chapter 1. How to Host & Set Up a Map in Gimkit Creative
It’s very easy to host a gimkit creative.
Follow these steps to create your first functional map:
Step 1: Login and Enter Creative Mode
- Go to Gimkit.com and log in.
- Click Gimkit Creative from the dashboard.( in top of screen)
- If it’s your first time, you’ll need to complete the Creative tutorial.
- Then click “Create New Map” and give it a name (e.g., “Tutorial”).
Step 2: Fix Zoom & Player Speed
When you first load in, your camera will feel too zoomed in and the character moves slowly. Fix that:
- Go to Options > Editing Options.
- Set Camera Zoom to 0.5 for a wider view.
- Set Player Speed to 3 so you can move around faster during editing.
Step 3: Enable Grid Snap for Balanced Maps
If you are still in Editing Options, turn on Grid Snap.
This will help you align map elements perfect for symmetrical maps or competitive game modes like Capture the Flag.
Step 4: Enable Collaborative Editing
This option will let your friend edit your map.
- Click Options > Permissions.
- You’ll see four editable roles:
- Adding (build terrain/props)
- Removing (delete elements)
- Editing (modify props/devices)
- Blocks (work on wiring/devices)
- Toggle each one on (blue = active) to allow collaborators to help.
- Share the Join Code at the top for others to enter your world.
Note: Only the original creator (host) can open and host the world.
Helpers cannot access the map unless the host is online.
Chapter 2. Add & Erase Tools
Building your dream map in Gimkit Creative starts with mastering the Add and Erase tools.
These let you lay down terrain, place props, and remove anything you don’t like quickly and efficiently.
Step 1: Using the Add Tool

In the top right corner, click the ➕ Add button.
You’ll get four main categories:
- Terrain – floors and walls
- Props – visual decorations like arcade machines
- Devices & Wiring – for logic-based game functions
- Starting Devices – spawn pads, starting inventory, etc.
Let’s start with Terrain.
Step 2: Placing Terrain (Floors & Walls)
Once inside the Terrain section:

- Pick your terrain type. Example: Snow.
- Click to place individual tiles or click-and-drag to cover more area.
Note: Use the Brush Size in the bottom-right corner:
- Size 1 = 1×1 (default)
- Size 2 = 2×2
- Size 3 = 3×3
- Size 4 = 4×4 (fastest for big maps)
You can build massive zones in seconds using brush size 4.
Step 3: Using the Erase Tool
Click the Eraser icon in the top-left corner.
Now you can:
- Set Erase Mode to Terrain or Props.
- Adjust Erase Size (1×1 to 3×3).
- Click to remove anything you placed.
Important:
You cannot click and drag to erase. You must manually click each grid tile.
Step 4: Adding Props
Go to Add > Props, then:
- Drop in items like arcade machines, basketballs, or 3D printers.
- Each time, you must go back to Add > Props to pick a new one.
Shortcut:
Hover over a placed prop and press C to copy it instantly.
If you want to duplicate a group then,

- Press C to clone everything.
To move then you can highlight the items and press M.
Step 5: Deleting Props Quickly
To remove multiple props:

Step 6: Copying Devices With Custom Settings
Let’s say you configure a spawn pad or device with specific team settings.
If you copy it, all custom settings get copied too including:
- Team assignment
- Visibility
- Phase availability
This makes building fast and consistent.
Chapter 3. How to Use Spawn Pads
Spawn pads are where your players enter the game.
It doesn’t matter if you’re building team-based battles or free-for-alls, you need spawn pads set up correctly.
Here’s how to do it.
Step 1: Add a Spawn Pad
- Click the ➕ Add button
- Go to Starting Devices
- Select Spawn Pad
- Drop it anywhere on your map
Wherever you place the spawn pad is where players will load into your world when the game begins.
Step 2: Customize the Spawn Pad Settings
Click on the spawn pad to reveal important customization options:
- Visible in Game
- Show or hide the pad in-game.
- Keep it visible if you want players to see their spawn points.
- Phases
- Choose when this spawn pad is active:
- Pregame – one-time use before the actual game
- Game – standard gameplay spawn
- All – available at all times
- Team Assignment
- Assign the pad to a specific team.
- Example:
- Left side = Team 1
- Right side = Team 2
Only players on the assigned team can spawn at that pad.
Step 3: Add Multiple Spawns
If you want to add more than one spawn point per team.
Then simply:
- Hover over a spawn pad
- Press C to copy
- Or highlight multiple and press C to duplicate them together
Now your team can spawn at multiple locations, improving flow and strategy.
Extra Thing: Duplicates Carry All Settings
Each copied spawn pad retains:
- Team assignment
- Visibility settings
- Phase settings
This saves you time and ensures every spawn pad works exactly the way you want.
Chapter 4. How to Start With Any Item ]
If you want players to spawn with specific gear in your Gimkit Creative game. Then you can set a starting inventory using the built-in device.
Here’s how to do it step-by-step.
Step 1: Add the Starting Inventory Device
- Go to ➕ Add > Starting Devices
- Choose Starting Inventory
- Drop it anywhere on your map
You’ve now added the device, but it still needs configuration.
Step 2: Choose What Item Players Will Start With
Click the Starting Inventory device to customize it.
You’ll see two options:
- Item to Grant
- What item should players receive at the beginning?
- Example: type “snow” to give a Snowball Launcher
- Amount to Grant
- How many of that item should players get?
- Usually, 1 is enough for launchers or weapons.
Step 3: Test the Setup
Click Start Game to test.
- If everything’s set up correctly, your character will spawn with the chosen item (e.g., a Snowball Launcher).
- Fire away to test it.
- When finished, go to the top right and click End Game > Restore Map to return to edit mode.
Now your players will start fully equipped and ready to go.
Chapter 5. Vending Machine Guide
This will let players buy items, fish, or gear in your game.
The vending machine + item spawner combo makes that possible.
Here’s how to set it all up.
Step 1: Add a Vending Machine
- Go to ➕ Add > Devices > Inventory Devices
- Select Vending Machine
- Drop it where players will access it
Step 2: Configure the Vending Machine
Click on the vending machine to open its settings:
- Currency Type (Required Item)
- What will players use to make a purchase?
- Options range from bait to rare zappers.
- Example: Set it to Blackberry.
- Amount Required
- Set how many items the player needs to buy something.
- Example: 1, 5, 10 up to you.
- Granted Item
- What does the vending machine give?
- Example: A Galaxy Fish.
- Amount Granted
- Set how many items are given per purchase.
- Visibility
- Choose Yes to show the machine on the map, or No to make it a hidden mystery players must discover.
Step 3: Add an Item Spawner
Now give players a way to get the currency required to use the vending machine.
- Go to ➕ Add > Devices > Inventory Devices
- Choose Item Spawner and drop it near the vending machine
Step 4: Set the Spawner’s Item
Click on the item spawner and:
- Set Item to Spawn (e.g., Blackberry)
- Set Amount Given (e.g., 3 per pickup)
Step 5: Control Respawn Time
In All Options, adjust:
- Respawn Delay – how long before the item appears again
- For rare items, increase the delay
- For common items, make it instant or low
Step 6: Test It
- Click Play to enter the map
- Collect Blackberries from the spawner
- Head to the vending machine and make a purchase
- Receive the Galaxy Fish (or whatever you set)
Now your game has a working store mechanic!
Chapter 6. Sentry & KO Basics in Gimkit Creative
Sentry in your Gimkit Creative map introduces exciting combat mechanics, especially for game modes like Capture the Flag.
Here’s how to set one up and customize its behavior.
Step 1: Add a Sentry Device
- Click ➕ Add > Devices > Combat Devices (or search for Sentry)
- Place it wherever you want a defensive turret or bot
Step 2: Configure the Sentry Settings
Click on the Sentry to open its options:
- Team Assignment
- By default, the Sentry is neutral and will attack everyone.
- To assign it to a team (e.g., Team 1), select the team number. This way, it attacks only opposing players.
- Difficulty / Accuracy
- Increase the Sentry’s accuracy to make it more effective:
- Low means weak
- Medium means average
- High or Very High means challenging
Step 3: Wiring the Sentry to Activate on Demand
The Sentry starts active by default, which might not be what you want.
To control when it activates:
- Use Wiring and Zones (covered in later sections)
- Connect the Sentry to a Button or Vending Machine so it activates only when purchased or triggered
This setup prevents the Sentry from constantly firing and lets players buy its activation.
Step 4: Test Your Setup
Start the game and observe the Sentry behavior:
- Check if it targets the correct teams
- Verify activation/deactivation flow
- Adjust accuracy and position as needed
Chapter 7. Speed Modifier & Zones in Gimkit Creative
By default, player movement in Gimkit Creative can feel slow.
The Speed Modifier device lets you control player speed and create dynamic areas where speed changes.
Step 1: Add the Speed Modifier Device
- Click ➕ Add > Devices
- Search for Speed Modifier and place it on your map
Step 2: Set the Desired Speed
Click the speed modifier device, and you’ll see speed options:
- 1.0 = default speed
- 0.5 = half speed (slower)
- 2.0 = double speed
- You can set values up to 4.0 for very fast movement
Step 3: Add a Zone Device
The speed modifier only activates when players enter a Zone. So next:
- Add a Zone device near your spawn or any area where you want speed changed
- Adjust the zone size by clicking and dragging its edges
Step 4: Wire the Zone to the Speed Modifier
To link the devices:
- Open Wiring (➕ Add > Wiring)
- Click on the Zone, then click on the Speed Modifier
- Set the wiring to trigger when a player enters the zone, activating the speed modifier
Step 5: Test It Out
- Start the game and walk into the zone
- Your player speed should instantly adjust to the new setting (e.g., double speed)
This makes your map feel more dynamic and lets you create zones with special effects.
Chapter 8. Capture the Flag with Sentries and Vending Machines
Capture the Flag is a classic mode that players love.
Gimkit Creative lets you spice it up by adding Sentries that can knock out campers holding the flag.
Step 1: Essential Devices
You’ll need these to set up your advanced Capture the Flag map:
- Zones
- Wiring
- Buttons
- Sentries
- Vending Machines
- Spawners
- Flags
Step 2: Place and Wire Your Button & Vending Machine
- Place a Button in a convenient spot
- Place a Vending Machine outside the play zone for neatness
- Wire the Button to the Vending Machine
- Pressing the button triggers a purchase action
Step 3: Configure the Vending Machine
- Set the currency to something like Energy
- Set the cost high (e.g., 50,000 energy) so the sentry is rare and valuable
- Set the reward to none or whatever fits your game style
Step 4: Set Up Your Sentry
- Add a Sentry device
- Assign it to your team (e.g., Team 1)
- Increase accuracy for challenge
- Wire the vending machine to activate the sentry upon purchase
Step 5: Use Zones to Control Activation
- Add a Zone covering the map
- Connect the zone to the sentry’s deactivate channel
