What Even Is Fishtopia in Gimkit?

Before we dive into the Gimfish hunt, let’s set the scene.
Fishtopia is a fishing-based game mode in Gimkit where you catch, sell, and upgrade gear using in-game currency.
There are multiple lakes, fish rarities, and even secret mechanics most players miss.
But there’s one fish everyone talks about the Gimfish.

It’s rare.
It’s shiny.
And catching it is like wearing a badge of honor.
But you won’t even see the Gimfish unless you follow the steps exactly. So let’s get to it.
Step 1: Get 200+ Baits
Start your grind by collecting at least 200 baits.
These are necessary to fish longer without returning again and again.
You can easily get baits from the starting area by answering question.
Step 2: Unlock Purple Pond (It cost less then $20)
Next, collect $20 in-game cash.
Once you have it, unlock Purple Pond.
Fish there as much as you can. You’ll catch purple fish which sell for more than common ones.
Fill up your backpack, then return to Fishtopia and sell all the fish.
Repeat this until you make around $100.
Step 3: Buy Shandy Shores (less then $100)
Now that you’ve got $100, unlock Shandy Shores and head over by boat.

In this area, you’ll find Beach Fish and other high-value catches.
Important:
Before fishing, always eat a Berry found at the pond entrance. This increases your chances of catching rare fish.
Fish until your backpack is full again, and then go back to Fishtopia to sell them.
You’ll now have around $250+ in cash.
Step 4: Unlock Cosmic Cove

With that $250, unlock the next big area: Cosmic cove.
This is where it gets exciting Gimfish is found here.
Before fishing, eat a Raspberry in cosmic cove. This boosts your luck, helping you find rare fish like Star Fish, Galaxy Fish, and yes Gimfish.
Keep fishing until your backpack is full. Then return to Fishtopia and sell everything.
You’ll start earning a lot more money per trip now.
Step 5: Upgrade Your Gear
Don’t waste your money. Use it wisely.
Buy the following upgrades:

- Better Fishing Rod: So you can catch rare fish easier
- Bigger Backpack: Hold more fish per trip
- Speed Boost (1.3x) from the Power Shop
- Money Boost Upgrade: Helps you earn more from each fish
These upgrades are essential to make your grind smoother and faster.
Step 6: Revisit Oosmic Moun

Now that you’re upgraded, go back to cosmic cove.
Fish again while eating Raspberries and try to fill your backpack with rare fish.
This is where you’ll likely catch other expensive fish.
Note: Gimfish doesn’t appear every time. It’s a rare spawn, so you may need multiple tries.
Step 7: Unlock Lucky Lake ($1000)

After fishing and selling multiple times, you’ll eventually earn $1000.
Now you can unlock the final area Lucky Lake.
Lucky Lake has a chance of spawning Gimfish. It’s also home to other ultra-rare fish.
Eat a berry before fishing, throw your line, and keep going until you find Gimfish.
Bonus Tips to Speed Up the Process
Want to catch the Gimfish faster?
Try these expert-level tricks:
1. Use Legendary or Epic Rods
These increase your catch rate and reduce the time per cast. Every second counts.
2. Don’t Switch Lakes
Once you’re in Lucky Lake post-Gimberry, stay there. Leaving may reset your spawn chance.
3. Don’t Forget to Eat the Gimberry Every Time
Yes, this is annoying. But the Gimberry trigger resets after each session.
You’ll need to:
- Catch a Berry Fish
- Find the Gimberry
- Eat it again
- Then head to Lucky Lake
Every time you want to spawn the Gimfish.
😅 It’s repetitive, but that’s what makes the Gimfish so rare.
Why Is the Gimfish So Popular?
Because it’s a status symbol.
Most players will never catch it.
Not because they can’t but because they don’t follow the right steps.
When you have that glowing Gimfish in your inventory, it shows:
- You’re a Fishtopia pro
- You understand the mechanics
- You earned it
It’s the equivalent of getting a secret badge in other games. That’s why everyone wants one.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Let’s go over some don’ts that ruin your chances:
Skipping the Berry Fish
If you don’t catch this first, the whole chain breaks.
Not finding the Gimberry
It’s small and hidden. Zoom in if you have to.
Entering the wrong lake
The Gimfish only spawns in Lucky Lake after all trigger steps are followed.
Not having enough money
Always save up at least $1,000 before going to Lucky Lake.
Final Thoughts
Catching the Gimfish in Fishtopia isn’t just about luck.
It’s about understanding the sequence.
Let’s recap:
- Catch the Berry Fish
- Return to the dock bushes and eat the Gimberry
- Save up $1,000
- Enter Lucky Lake
- Fish until the Gimfish bites
Simple steps, but miss one and you’ll waste your time fishing for nothing.
Now that you know how it all works, it’s your turn.
Grab that rod. Get the Berry. Eat the Gimberry. Enter Lucky Lake.
And when that golden legend bites your line…
Don’t. Let. Go.
